Mobile App Development Adelaide

Mobile apps built for how your business actually works.

Swivel Digital is an Adelaide mobile app development studio that designs and builds mobile applications for Australian organisations, from new consumer apps to internal tools your team uses every day.

What we build

iPhone, Android, and everything in between.

Some apps need to be on the App Store and Google Play from day one. Others start as an internal tool for a small team and grow from there. We build both, and we help you decide which approach fits your situation rather than defaulting to the most expensive one.

That includes consumer apps aimed at the public, business applications used by staff or partners, and internal mobile tools that replace spreadsheets, paper forms, or manual processes. Where useful, we connect the app to your existing systems through APIs and backend integration, so the mobile app is not an island sitting apart from the rest of your business.

How we work

Our mobile development process.

  1. 1

    Discovery

We clarify what the app needs to do, who will use it, and what success looks like before writing any code.

  2. 2

    Design and planning

Screens, flows and technical approach get mapped out so there are no surprises once development starts.

  3. 3

    Build

Development happens in phases, with working builds you can test along the way rather than at the very end.

  4. 4

    Launch

We manage App Store and Google Play submission, including store listings and the review process.

  5. 5

    Ongoing development

Most apps keep evolving after launch. We scope ongoing work based on how actively yours needs to grow.

Native vs cross-platform

An honest answer, not a sales pitch.

A single cross-platform codebase is often the right call: one team, one codebase, and iOS and Android releases that stay in sync. It suits most business and consumer apps well.

Fully native development still makes sense when an app depends heavily on platform-specific performance or hardware, such as complex camera or sensor work, or when a business already has separate native teams in place. We will tell you which situation you are in rather than pushing one answer regardless of the project.

Who we work with

Small and medium Australian businesses, startups, professional services firms, education and health organisations, not-for-profits, and government agencies. Some come to us with a clear brief. Others come with a business problem and no fixed idea of what the app should be yet, which is a perfectly good place to start.

To start a mobile app project with Swivel Digital, get in touch through the contact page or the "Start a project" button on this page — a short conversation about what you need is the first step, before any scoping or cost commitment.

For an example of a mobile app Swivel Digital has built, see the Hello Now case study, a cross-platform course-delivery app, or the OpenGround case study, which covers our broader work as their mobile app delivery partner.

FAQ

Common questions.

Both, in most cases. We assess whether your app suits a shared cross-platform codebase or whether native iOS and Android builds make more sense, based on the features you need and how your users behave on each platform.

It depends on scope. A focused first release typically takes several weeks to a few months. We break the build into phases so you have something usable to test early, rather than waiting for a single big-bang launch.

Yes. We regularly step into existing codebases. If your app already exists and needs new features, a rebuild, or ongoing development, see our app rescue and modernisation service.

Yes. We manage store listings, screenshots, review submissions and the back-and-forth with Apple and Google review teams as part of delivery.

Most clients move to an ongoing development arrangement, whether that is ongoing feature work, bug fixes, OS compatibility updates, or ad hoc support. We scope this based on how actively the app will keep evolving.
